Professor of Fine Art

Trained as a print maker but finding myself painting; I use print concepts with repeated imagery, repetitious marks, thoughts, and acts to grasp the multitude of options for grey areas and double meanings. I enjoy process and love layering imagery with different methods and textures.

Currently I am working to complete a series of paintings called "We Were Warned." This series is built of painting based on images I collect of roadkill I encounter while running. The deceased feel like a warning from the universe of our current sociopolitical state and the universe is getting personal and leaving these carcasses in my path. As I engage in this act to protect my health and future, the universe tries to "trip me up." Just as we try to work toward a more progressive future and leave behind the problems of stagnation and ignorance, we encounter push back and challenges. The roadkill reminds us that falling under the pressure of these challenges is worse than the challenge of overcoming them.
